 Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6, Verse 5 – Uplift Yourself




Sanskrit Verse:

उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्।
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः॥ ६.५॥

Transliteration:

Uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet
Ātmaiva hyātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ

Translation:

A person should uplift himself by his own efforts and not degrade himself. The self alone is his friend, and the self alone can also be his enemy.



" मनुष्य को अपने ही प्रयासों से अपना उत्थान करना चाहिए, न कि स्वयं को नीचा दिखाना चाहिए। स्वयं ही उसका मित्र है और स्वयं ही उसका शत्रु भी हो सकता है। "
